The film screening is free of charge and does not require pre-registration. The film will be shown on Father’s Day, November 12th, in Haltia-saloi Hall from 3:00 PM to 4:20 PM (film duration 1h 20min).

About The Lynx Man

In this documentary directed by Juha Suonpää, Hannu from Rauma follows the movements of lynxes, forming an unconventional relationship with them.

Hannu is a divorced and injured man who lives alone and in despair on his family estate near Köyhäjärvi in Western Finland. When Hannu finds a dead lynx by the roadside, he realizes that the lynxes that lived in the area during his childhood have returned.

Filled with new strength and zest for life, Hannu installs game cameras around his property. Soon, 23 cameras are capturing everything from elk to mice: wolves, deer, birds, otters, foxes, dogs—and lynxes. Hannu begins to learn about the lynxes and becomes familiar with their habits, habitats, relationships, and individual characteristics. He walks through the forest at night, observing and waiting. Gradually, he realizes that the lynxes are also observing him in return.
