Early childhood education and school groups

Haltia’s Nature School, exhibitions and the surrounding natural environment give school groups the opportunity to learn, experience, be inspired and try things for themselves! Haltia’s Nature School also organizes diverse training courses for teachers and educators.

At Haltia, young people are introduced to Finland’s unique and diverse nature as well as the dialogue between Finnish culture and nature. Haltia’s Nature School also emphasizes biodiversity, hiking skills and environmental responsibility. We also offer nature trail excursions, guided tours of the exhibitions and, in the future, summer camps.

Nature School

The principal target group for the Nature School is 3–9th -year students. The nature school serves school groups from the municipalities of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area (Espoo, Helsinki, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kirkkonummi and Vihti) with free nature school days throughout the school year. The application time for Haltia’s free of charge nature school days in 2022–2023 has ended. More information in finnish on the Haku ja varaukset -page >

School groups from other municipalities can reserve chargeable nature school days.

Guided tours for child and school groups

The guided tours in the exhibitions and along our nature path are suitable for pre school children in the age of 4 to 6 and school students of all ages.

In Haltia´s main exhibition we offer guided tours with many different themes and with an activating approach. In the natural surroundings we do short guided hikes suitable for all age groups. Along our nature path we experience and wonder about nature actively and with all your senses.

Courses and learning materials

The Nature School also offers courses and workshops for teachers and educators. To support teachers planning nature excursions we lend hiking gear and nature study equipment. Haltia’s nature and culture library includes literature related to environmental education.

Suomen luontokeskus Haltia on LYKE-verkoston jäsen. Suomen luonto- ja ympäristökoulujen liitto ylläpitää ja kehittää LYKE-toiminnan laatukriteerejä. LYKE-kehittämiskeskuksena Haltia kehittää monipuolisesti ympäristökasvatusta omalla toimialueellaan, ja tarjoaa laadukasta luonto- ja ympäristökoulutoimintaa, jonka kehittämiseksi tehdään aktiivista laatutyötä. Sertifiointikriteerien täyttyminen varmistetaan säännöllisillä vertaisauditoinneilla.
