Christmas and Outdoor Flea Market will fill the Haltia hall with ambiance on December 2, 2023 from 11:00 to 15:00!
Come and make practical and atmospheric Christmas gift purchases at Haltia at the beginning of December!
In addition to Haltia’s own diverse product range, local producers will be showcasing and selling their own products. The partners are responsible, high-quality, and local. From the Outdoor Flea Market, you can find lovely, practical, and useful second-hand finds for yourself and your loved ones!
As dusk falls, step onto the Christmas Path, where you’ll find an inviting and atmospheric Christmas Café in the embrace of Nuuksio’s nature, in the fresh open air.
All exhibitions in Haltia are free to enter from 17:00 onwards, and the sauna is warm from 15:00 to 17:00.
At the same date, the NuuksioAid charity event for Ukraine will be organized in Nuuksio.

Come and make Christmas gift purchases for yourself, hiking friends, and family members! From Haltia’s Christmas Market, you can find responsible, quality, and domestic gifts for Santa’s sack. In addition to Haltia’s own shop range, local producers will also be present, showcasing and selling their own products. Whether your budget is small or large, you’ll surely find lovely and personal gifts that come with a story.
Aside with the Christmas Market we will also host, for the third time, the popular and highly praised Outdoor Flea Market. From there, you can make quality second-hand finds for yourself and your loved ones!
Come and sell your extra hiking gear
The Hiking Flea Market is also an excellent opportunity to get rid of your unnecessary, intact, and clean gear during Christmas cleaning. Reserve your own table here! Invite a hiking friend to sell with you and take a joint table. Two is always better than one!
Pssst! If you have only 1–5 products to sell, you can also utilize Haltia’s elves’ joint sales table. We handle the sales on your behalf with a 30% sales commission. Unsold products will not incur costs for the seller. Send us a product description (name, size, color, price) by November 30 via email to kirsi@retkipaikka.fi and bring the products to the event between 10:00–11:00.

Christmas Path and Café
As the day begins to darken, step onto the atmospheric Christmas Path that takes you into the forest near Haltia, which is part of the rugged lake highlands of Nuuksio. The journey lit by lanterns ends at the Aarnituuli fire site with a Christmas café.
Situated 400 meters from Haltia along the Päivättärenpolku trail, the Aarnituuli fire site awaits you amidst calming nature during the Christmas season. A campfire circle with groups of tables awaits you in the midst of a calm nature at Christmas time, and the wonderful smell of campfire coffee and delicacies and the warmth of a live fire floats above everything, which entice you to sit down and stop for a moment.

Sauna shift now only 5 €
Christmas Market day is also the traditional Outdoor Saturday, so the sauna is warming up as usual at Haltia. Cap off your Nuuksio adventure by enjoying the sauna right afterwards!
Haltia’s modern and comfortable Saivo sauna will be hot in the afternoon, with the men’s session starting at 15 (3 pm) and the women’s session starting at 16 (4 pm). Please bring your own bathing supplies and towel. Each sauna slot can accommodate a maximum of 8 people.
Men’s shift starts at 15:00 and the women’s at 16:00!

The special exhibition for the anniversary year is open—free entry to all Haltia exhibitions from 17:00
All exhibitions are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free entry to the exhibitions from 17:00, normal admission at other times 13/8 €, under 7s and Museum Card holders free.
The special exhibition of Haltia’s 10th anniversary year,Bog, dig and blog – update your relationship with nature explores the development of Finnish attitudes towards nature through different eras, considering movement, shelter, nutrition, fear, and the sacred. We hope that you will bring company: sharing stories and experiences is an ancient tradition.
Haltia’s main exhibition Finnish nature showcases the entire nature of Finland, introducing national parks and seasons. You can also play a mushroom-picking game, snuggle up in Halla the bear’s arms, and explore the snow canyon!
Stunning rotating exhibitions provide a good reason to return to Haltia again and again. The exhibition of The nature photographs of the year 2023 winners is on display in Haltia Gallery, and from the Light Gallery, you can find Erkko Badermann’s nature photographs.
The popular Bug Bakery located in the lower floor of Haltia gives you free rein and colorful modeling clay to create your own bug! What colors do you want to use? Will your bug be a long slither, a round ball, or something entirely different? How many legs are you going to put on it, or not put on it at all? In the Bug Bakery, even the smallest family members are guaranteed to enjoy themselves with the plasticine. Previously created bug creations in the bakery are also on display in the adjacent showcase for everyone to admire.

Library Bus Välkky is present
Library Bus Välkky will be stationed in front of Haltia on every Outdoor Saturday throughout the year, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The materials on the bus are always curated to align with the theme of the day, offering interesting reads for both adults and children! The bus may also provide activities related to the theme of the day.

Turn to us when you want to get the best location tips for your hobby. Do you have in mind to perhaps pick some cranberries or mushrooms? Would you like to get quiet in the arms of a particularly handsome, old forest, where there would be no other hikers? Or maybe you want to find a fishing or swimming spot you’ve never tried before. We are happy to tell you where you should go at any time! Haltia’s customer service and excursion advice are open on Excursion Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Embark on a trip to Nuuksio – rent equipment on-site
Equipment rental is also open on Excursion Saturdays throughout Haltia’s opening hours, and equipment can be rented until 6:30 p.m.
At Haltia, you can rent outdoor equipment for your independent excursion Our extensive selection includes, among other things, snowshoes, glide snowshoes, e-fatbikes, fatbikes, cooking supplies, backpacks, bags, tents, and more.
Our staff is available to provide guidance on the use of rental equipment, such as adjusting backpacks or operating camping stoves!
