Best animal shots from the Nature Photo 2025 winner

Ossi ”Soosseli” Saarinen
At Haltia’s living room 29.11.2025-31.5.2026

“Nature, and especially wildlife, has been my greatest passion since I was a small child. At the age of 18, I traded my binoculars for a DSLR camera, and this year marks ten years since I took my first nature photograph.

I have selected some of my favorite images for this exhibition—photos that capture the most memorable and meaningful encounters with animals over the years. Most of these pictures were taken near my home in the Helsinki metropolitan area. With these images, I want to show that you don’t need to travel far to experience amazing nature; you can start right in your own backyard.

Usually, I head out into nature looking for a specific animal, but more often than not, I end up photographing something completely different. Nature always knows how to surprise you, and many of the photos in this exhibition were taken without any prior planning. I rarely shoot in the bright light of midday; instead, I prefer early mornings and late evenings. The light is softer then, and most animals are at their most active.”
