Bog, dig and blog – refresh your relationship with nature
Come and enhance your relationship with nature at the Outdoor Saturday 1st of July from 10 am to 9 pm! Our new special exhibition“Bog, dig and blog – refresh your relationship with nature” will be unveiled at the July Outdoor Saturday, in honor of Haltia’s 10th anniversary. The special exhibition explores the evolution of the Finnish relationship with nature across different eras, from the perspectives of getting around, finding and creating shelter, finding food and experiencing fear and sacredness.
The July Outdoor Saturday also provides an excellent opportunity to examine your own relationship with nature and update it with new outdoor activities. Bring your family on a guided tour to recharge your brains in nature, or deepen your connection with nature through forest yoga! Throughout the day, you can try invigorating activities such as stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, or kayaking on Lake Pitkäjärvi, as well as mountain biking on the forest trails of Nuuksio. You have the opportunity to try out the activities both independently and with guidance, and equipment is available for rent.
Haltia’s services will be open on Outdoor Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm!
Here are the schedules for the day:
9–21 Paddling equipment and fat bikes are available for rent.
10–21 Bog, dig and blog – The celebratory exhibition will be open throughout the day.
10–15 The booth of ‘Retkelle’ magazine’s creators is located in front of the main entrance of Haltia.
11–13 Guided downhill mountain biking session at Nuuksio Bikepark
11–15 Fatbike trail in the outdoor exhibition area
12–18 Introduction to water sports: stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, and kayaking at Solvalla Beach (in the immediate vicinity of Haltia)
13–14 Guided “Recharge Your Brain in Nature” excursion, departing from in front of Haltia

Bog, dig and blog – refresh your relationship with nature
The Haltia anniversary exhibition opens at 10 am.
This year, Haltia celebrates its 10th anniversary, and the opening ceremony of the anniversary exhibition will take place on the July Outdoor Saturday. The exhibition is titled Bog, dig and blog – refresh your relationship with nature.
The special exhibition explores the evolution of the Finnish relationship with nature across different eras, from the perspectives of getting around, finding and creating shelter, finding food and experiencing fear and sacredness.
The special exhibition will be at Haltia 1.7.2023-7.4.2024.
Departures are at 1 pm and 3 pm
“Recharge Your Brain in Nature” excursions
On the ‘Recharge Your Brain in Nature’ excursions, a guide will share insights on how we can learn to notice, receive, and enhance the beneficial and relaxing effects of nature. The learnings from the excursion can be applied by each participant on their future self-guided outings, enabling them to effectively recharge their brains in nature.
The excursion is aimed at families with children who are at least 5 years old.
The excursions are free of charge, but registration is required in advance on the event day at the Haltia information desk, as spots are limited.

Forest Yoga by Miki’s Yoga
Join us to experience how good it feels in the body, how light the mind becomes, and how everything is well as a part of nature. In the summer evening, we will open and relax our bodies through dynamic movements, accompanied by conscious breathing. At the same time, we will immerse ourselves in sensing the surrounding nature and the present moment with all our senses.
Participation in this meditation session does not require any prior experience. Basic mobility is required to be able to move to and from the yoga location in the terrain.
We will gather in front of the main entrance of Haltia at 4 pm. Duration: 2 h.
12–18, Solvalla Beach
Try out kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddleboarding
In our land of thousands of lakes, the opportunity to glide on the waves opens the door to entirely new worlds, where you can enjoy tranquility and endlessly explore new shores. On the July Outdoor Saturday, you can conveniently come and test out new water sports as we introduce the features and usage of kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards at Solvalla Beach next to the Haltia Event Field. The canoes are suitable for two people, while each kayak and stand-up paddleboard can accommodate one person. The trial and guidance are free of charge and do not require prior registration.
The equipment is also available for rent if you feel that a mere trial is not enough and you want to embark on your journey at your own pace. In that case, make a reservation in advance through Solvalla. On the Outdoor Saturday in July, equipment for kayaking can be rented at a special price of 20 €/3 hours. The price includes equipment and guidance from the shore.

Haltia Event Field & Nuuksio Bikepark
Learn to ride a fatbike or try downhill mountain biking
Cycling enthusiasts will be treated on July 1st. at two different arenas in Nuuksio!
At Haltia Event Field you can try guided fatbike riding. The track set up by Biking.fi in the courtyard offers suitable challenges that will lower the threshold for venturing onto off-road trails. This activity is free and does not require registration.
The track at the Event Field will be open on Outdoor Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm.
Also, note the possibility to rent fatbikes for independent use fromour equipment rental.
At Nuuksio Bikepark, on the other hand, you can test downhill mountain biking on Outdoor Saturday with a lower barrier to entry. Throughout the day, there will be three two-hour sessions available, where you can participate either with your own bike or a rented one. Downhill mountain biking is an exhilarating sport that demands bike handling skills and a hint of daring. You’ll ride the lift uphill and then weave your way down the slope!
Registration for the day’s sessions will open on the Swinghill.fi website.
Sessions will take place from 11 am to 1 pm, 1 pm to 3 pm, and 3 pm to 5 pm at Nuuksio Bikepark (Nuuksiontie 71, Espoo).

Retkelle magazine introduces itself
Retkelle is a new lifestyle publication aimed at Finnish urban dwellers, focusing on hiking and outdoor activities. The magazine showcases interesting hiking destinations, quality gear, and current individuals in the field. On July’s Outdoor Saturday, you can get to know Retkelle magazine at its own stand, where you can also purchase the latest issue for yourself, of course!

Feel free to approach us when you want to get the best location recommendations for your hobby. Are you thinking of picking chantarelles or cranberries, perhaps? Would you like to find yourself in the embrace of an exceptionally stunning old forest with no other hikers around? Or maybe you want to discover a fishing spot or swimming spot you’ve never tried before. We are more than happy to tell you where to go at any given time! Haltia offers captivating nature exhibitions both indoors and outdoors
Free entry to exhibitions from 3 pm to 9 pm
All exhibitions are open on Outdoor Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm. Free entry to exhibitions from 3 pm to 9 pm, at other times normal admission fees apply: €13 for adults, €8 for concessions, free entry for children under 7 and Museum Card (Museokortti) holders.
Haltia’s main exhibition Finnish nature showcases the entire nature of Finland, introducing national parks and seasons. You can also play a mushroom-picking game, snuggle up in Halla the bear’s arms, and explore the snow canyon! Stunning rotating exhibitions provide a good reason to return to Haltia again and again. The new special exhibition “Bog, dig and blog – refresh your relationship with nature,” opens on July 1st on Outdoor Saturday (read more information above!). Susanna Alava’s “Nature’s Light” exhibition is currently on display at Haltia, and Päivi Mikola’s “From the Forest with love” exhibition is featured in the Light Gallery.
The popular Bug Bakery located in the lower floor of Haltia gives you free rein and colorful modeling clay to create your own bug! What colors do you want to use? Will your bug be a long slither, a round ball, or something entirely different? How many legs will it have, or will it have any at all? Even the youngest family members will enjoy themselves with modeling clay at the Bug Bakery. Previously created bug creations in the bakery are also on display in the adjacent showcase for everyone to admire.
Sauna slots for Outdoor Saturday
Enhance your Nuuksio adventure with a relaxing sauna experience at Haltia! Haltia’s modern and comfortable Saivo sauna will be hot in the afternoon, with the men’s session starting at 3 pm and the women’s session starting at 4 pm. The price for a sauna slot is 10 euros per person. Please bring your own bathing supplies and towel. Each sauna slot can accommodate a maximum of 8 people.

Equipment rental is available throughout Outdoor Saturday and can be rented until 8:30 pm.
