Come by bus, bicycle, car or by hiking.
The Finnish Nature Centre Haltia is situated at Nuuksiontie 84, 02820 Espoo. Haltia is located approximately 30 kilometres from Helsinki city centre and 17 kilometres from the centre of Espoo. You can reach Haltia easilly by public transport, bicycle, car or by hiking.
On foot
You can hike to Haltia from various sides of the Nuuksio lake upland, for example from the outdoor recreation areas of Pirttimäki, Salmi and Oittaa. Other hiking routes lead to Haltia from the western part of Nuuksio, Veikkola and Klassarin portti or from the southwest, from the yard of Hotel Nuuksio, Siikaniemi or Siikaranta. There is a connecting route between Haukkalampi in Nuuksio National Park and Haltia.
By bus
You can also reach Haltia by first taking the train U, E or X to Espoo Centre and continuing with the bus 245/245A to Nuuksionpää/Kattila that departs from Espoo Centre/ Espoo Train Station (plattform nr 32). Get off the bus at the Haltia stop. From the bus stop, it is only a 30-metre walk to Haltia. Area is called also Solvalla. Within the City of Espoo, you can travel with the B/C ticket; from Helsinki Center you will need a A/B/C ticket. The trip from Espoo Centre to Haltia takes roughly 25 minutes, and the trip from the centre of Helsinki to Haltia lasts roughly one hour. You will find time tables and connection maps at hsl.fi.
By bicycle
A pedestrian and bicycle way runs alongside Nuuksiontie road. However, a bicycle ride to Nuuksio takes time and effort due to the high hills on the way. Bicycles can be parked next to the main entrance to Haltia. Route 2000 mountain biking route runs from Pirttimäki to Solvalla and Haltia and further along Nuuksiontie road to Haukkalampi and northwards.
By car
Haltia has parking spaces for just under 200 cars. When driving to Haltia, turn off the Turku motorway (road no 1) at Nupuri junction to Nupurintie road (road number 110) and at Nupuri, north to Brobackantie road. Brobackantie road then changes to Nuuksiontie road, which you follow for 6.7 km until you reach Haltia. Follow the signs to Finnish Nature Centre Haltia.
Parking for electric cars
NOTE! Charging points for electric cars will be out of use for the time being from 31 October 2022. The owner of the parking lot, the city of Espoo, is looking for the best a brand new electric car charging station operator.
For electric cars, there are four charging points, powered by solar panels, at the northern end of the parking area. So, you can leave your car in Haltia’s large parking area and continue to Nuuksio National Park for example by foot or by renting a fatbike from Haltia!
